There is a very well-kept cemetery in Bloomfield called Mountain View.
It sort of sounds like the name of a convalescent home, but perhaps
that’s appropriate. In any case, it really is on a mountain and it
really does have a splendid view.
Even the cell phone towers look dramatic and cool.
This is my buddy, the stone dog.
Looks even more awesome in silhouette, doesn’t he?
In the words of Borat, “When do we have sexy intercourse?”
I hope this was someone’s idea of a joke. Or at least their idea of
jokingly disposing of a joke gift. Or at least an inappropriate disposal
of a joke gift. Let’s just say I wasn’t going to touch it.
I was at the office late one night. Okay, not that late… In any case,
I decided I should turn out the lights and take some pictures in the
dark. This one came out alright. I manipulated the color channels for
kicks.

The folks at my dentist’s office were kind enough to let me spend a few
free moments snapping photos of their cool old X-Ray machine and such.
Big thanks to Dr. Berman and his entire crew.
I’m experimenting with the Mama Shanz cross-process actions in
Photoshop. Cross-processing refers to the development of some type of
film using chemicals intended for a different type of film. Typically,
slide film is developed in chemicals intended for 35mm film, which
produces exaggerated contrasts and funky colors. The cross-processing
effect was pretty big for a while in the ’70s, as I understand it, but
with the advent of Photoshop it becomes easier to experiment with
similar effects without incurring the costs of chemicals and screw-ups.
Here are a couple of ideas.
